Seven Tips for a Perfect Proposal

Seven Tips for a Perfect Proposal

If you are looking at this blog, then it means you are most likely looking to get engaged. If that's the case, congratulations! Proposing is one of the scariest things you'll have to do. The key to a perfect proposal is to have a plan and to be personal. Think about things like timing, location, even attire. Be sure to learn about engagement rings, including the four Cs of diamonds, whether you want a silver or gold band and how much you can afford to spend. There is a lot to

Australia and New Zealand | Travel Blog

Five years is quite the milestone! I'm sure you hear this a lot, but it seems like just recently that Jared and I were married, not five years ago. To celebrate, we decided to go all out this year for vacation ... we have a long list of dream destinations, and it was a real struggle to decide where to go! We thought about doing the Western Mediterranean cruise (to mirror the eastern version we did on our honeymoon) ... we thought about going to Norway, Sweden and Finland ...

I Saw the Sun | Solar Eclipse 2017

The Total Eclipse of 2017 was epic! We decided to go to St. Clair, to a venue a friend I went to school with runs, called Lost Hill Lake Events. It was the perfect location, because, despite the hour drive to get there, we were able to get the full two minute and 40 second totality (the longest in our area!). Because we knew we'd be traveling down 44 around breakfast time, we decided to stop at Krispy Kreme for breakfast donuts. We don't got often, and thought it would be a n

    Photographing the Solar Eclipse

Aug. 21 is a day that millions in the U.S. have been counting down to, some for decades. In just a few weeks, St. Louis will see its first total solar eclipse since 1442. That's 575 years! The next total solar eclipse here won't be for another 498 years. While we'll see partial eclipses between now and then, a total eclipse is a once in a lifetime experience! I've been reading up on photographing the eclipse, and I'd love to share with you what I've learned! Depending on wher

    Why Printing Pictures Matters

    Why Printing Pictures Matters

Four years. Four. That's how long it took me to finally create my wedding album. Our wedding photographer was great, and we got three beautiful images printed from here that are still on display in our living room, even five years after our wedding. But I am a perfectionist, and I did not want to subject her to my craziness when it came the album! But last summer I had some forced down time after my gallbladder surgery, so I made one of my to-do be to start working on our alb

    Our Products

One of the things photographers get really excited about it providing clients with their images. In the era of dodge-and-burn photography, we love highlighting the importance of printing your images. I love giving (and receiving) digital versions of my pictures, but I don't just want our pictures to live on a computer or in my phone. I want them in the house, for people to see! We know that everyone's needs, interests and styles are different. For that reason, we offer a vari

Indianapolis, Indiana | Reset Conference 2017

Earlier this month, Jared and I drove to Indianapolis to participate in our first ever photography conference. We spent two days "resetting" at the Reset Conference. It was a mind-blowing experience, and we took away so much from it! We tried to arrive in Indy early on Friday to explore the city, and to get a brain break, we spent some breaks and evenings walking around downtown Indianapolis. It was a terrific city! This might be crazy, but I think if we were to ever leave St

    Goals for 2017

I can't believe we're already into 2017. I feel like the month's already going super fast! So, I really need to get on this! I'm not a big goals person. I just sort of give myself some general things I want to do, and if I accomplish them, then yay! Though, more often than not, I think that if I set some real goals ... attainable goals, with milestones ... then maybe I'd have more success. These are the goals I really want to accomplish this year. I don't want to go too crazy

    Rising Tide Society Styled Shoot

Oh my gosh! This group is amazing! In the fall, I found this wonderful group of creatives that meet on Tuesday (Tuesdays Together) to talk about everything entrepreneurial. The group is part of The Rising Tide Society, which believes in community over competition. With that mission in mind, a ton of creatives pulled our resources together to create a wonderful garden-themed styled shoot earlier this month. We all convened at the Piper Palm House in Tower Grove Park. If you'd

    Fall Family Photos

Earlier this month this wonderful family invited me to their house to take pictures of their son, W. I know W's parents from my day job, and they are nice and friendly of people that you'll ever meet. The family has a wonderful back yard; we were able to find a variety of spots in their yard for these shots. It's not doubt that W will have a great place to play as he grows. W is an incredibly happy baby! He was hardly phased by a complete stranger getting in his face for two
